Young Clergy Initiative

Young Clergy Initiative 2017-01-03T17:47:31+00:00

The Young Clergy Initiative is a collaboration of the Claremont School of Theology and the Cal-Pac Conference of the United Methodist Church, which received a Young Clergy Initiative Grant from the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry. The purpose of this initiative is to increase the number of youth and young adults pursuing careers in ministry, with special attention to ethnic communities.

As part of our YCI program, we will be offering quarterly discernment of “CALL” workshops for youth and young adults in the California-Pacific and Desert Southwest Annual Conferences by inviting them to the Claremont School of Theology campus, and exposing them to grounding their faith-understanding through Young People’s Ministry, Camping & Retreat Ministry, Justice & Compassion Ministry, Campus Ministry, and Board of Ordained Ministry within our Conferences.

In addition, the program will include matching workshop participants with trained mentors in our “LIGHT” program, as well as attending relevant national conferences, and creating internship programs relevant to discerning vocational calls for Young People.

For mentoring and congregational support, Rev. Allison Mark is available for preaching and leading “GROW: Creating a Culture of Call” workshops for congregations teaching how to maintain spiritual and financial growth for young people in your congregation and community.

Please share our informational flyer about YCI with your congregations and communities.
