The Disciples Seminary Foundation has named CST alumnus, the Rev. Dr. José Francisco Morales, Jr., as its acting president, replacing the Rev. Dr. Jon Berquist.

CST President Kuan affirms that Claremont School of Theology highly values its sixty-year relationship with Disciples Seminary Foundation, saying, “Over the decades we have partnered in educating hundreds of religious leaders for the transformation of the world, including José Morales, and I am looking forward to working with him in the coming months to ensure that the education of our Disciples students is not negatively impacted and our institutional partnership remains strong.”

DSF was CST’s first ecumenical partner when CST relocated to Claremont after separating from USC, and it was the first partner organization to affirm and support CST’s upcoming move to Willamette University. Together, both institutions embody ecumenical and interfaith commitments, and Disciples students, faculty, and staff are an integral part of our CST community.

The CST community extends its support to everyone at DSF during this time of transition, and we are confident in our continued relationship for many years to come.

Dr. Morales will serve as acting president until an interim president is named, and will continue to perform his mentoring duties as director of pastoral formation at DSF and hold his joint appointment as Assistant Professor of Historical and Comparative Theology at CST.
