Last month CST’s Board of Trustees took some important actions for four faculty members. First, two faculty members were promoted from Associate Professors to Full Professors: Dr. Andrew Dreitcer is now Professor of Spirituality and Dr. Grace Yia-Hei Kao is now Professor of Ethics.

Of the promotion, Dr. Kao said, “I’m delighted about my recent promotion and especially honored to have become the first Asian American woman full professor at Claremont School of Theology. CST has been and remains a wonderful place to work: the students are inspiring, the faculty are leading experts in their fields, the staff are professional, and the administration exemplifies visionary and transparent leadership.”

Dr. Dreitcer said, “I feel honored not only to be promoted to full professor, but to be able to spend so many wonderful years at CST. I continue to be extraordinarily grateful to be able to teach in an institution that is unparalleled in its approach to forming religious leaders across spiritual traditions for the good of the world.”

The Board also awarded tenure to Dr. Jack Jackson, E. Stanley Jones Associate Professor of Evangelism, Mission, and Global Methodism. Dr. Jackson said, “It’s an honor to receive tenure at one of our United Methodist institutions. I’m so happy to be part of the team that is training women and men to serve as pastoral leaders in the UMC.”

In addition, the Board granted Dr. Nicholas Grier a two-year term contract as Assistant Professor of Pastoral Theology, Counseling and Culture.

President Kuan remarked, “These are all important achievements for these four faculty members. They will continue the legacy of the high-quality faculty we are fortunate to have at CST.”

Congratulations, Drs. Grier, Jackson, Kao, and Dreitcer!
