Last year, when we analyzed the results of our Alumni\/ae, Students, and Friends Survey, we found that folks really want to know more about what our faculty are up to. Here are some recent accomplishments of some of our incredible faculty members.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor <\/span><b>Duane Bidwell<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was published in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Sage Handbook of Constructionist Practices, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">an edited volume, with a chapter titled \u201cSocial Construction, Practical Theology, and the Practices of Religious Communities.\u201d Dr. Bidwell also appeared on the Japanese program \u201cCarving the Divine TV\u201d with Yujiro Seki in an episode titled \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MCVwqtfu9L0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Religious Multiplicity: Can We Be Buddhist and Christian at the Same<\/span><\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MCVwqtfu9L0\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Time?<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor <\/span><b>Philip Clayton<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has co-edited a new book titled <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The New Possible: Visions of Our World Beyond Crisis<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. The book offers twenty-eight unique visions of what can be, if instead of choosing to go back to normal, we choose to go forward to something far better. Learn more at<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/thenewpossible.org\/?fbclid=IwAR3PHOXogQsLDQzoVAv8omfx2T-TK4FmatevomLTSxxo3nPgisofIzn_MNc\"> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">https:\/\/thenewpossible.org\/<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor <\/span><b>\u5b89\u5fb7\u9b6f \u00b7 \u5fb7\u96f7\u7279<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was recently featured in the short film created by Clinical Assistant Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, Dr. Matthew S. Goodman, titled <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/482172141\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cOn the Path: Meditation, Spirituality, and the Dark Night of the Soul\u201d<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Dr. Dreitcer defined \u201cdark night\u201d for the film.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor <\/span><b>\u91d1\u5357\u4fca<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> wrote a chapter titled \u201cPreaching from the Perspective of Asian American Theology\u201d for the edited volume <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Preaching the Manifold Grace of God: Theologies of Preaching in the Early Twenty-First Century Volume 2,<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as well as \u201cWorship after the Covid-19 Pandemic Crisis in Korean Contexts\u201d for the Institute for Biblical Preaching in Seoul.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Dean of Faculty and Professor <\/span><b>Sheryl Kujawa-Holbrook<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> was inducted as a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society for her original contributions to historical scholarship and was also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/hsec.us\/news\/9489567\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">elected by the Historical Society of the Episcopal Church to serve as the sixth Editor of <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Anglican and Episcopal History Journal<\/span><\/i><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor <\/span><b>Frank Rogers<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> has written several journal articles, including \u201cSearching for Beauty: Art in the Midst of the Ugly\u201d for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Insights, <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cCompassion-Based Spiritual Direction: Internal Family Systems as a Resource for Spiritual Companions\u201d for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Presence: An International Journal of Spiritual Direction<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and \u201cFaithful Presence within the Abyss: Seven Days of Devotions\u201d for <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Upper Room Disciplines 2020: Weavings Honorary Edition<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. He was also featured in a podcast with Claire Mckeever-Burgett of Upper Room\u2019s Academy for Spiritual Formation, titled \u201c<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/academy.upperroom.org\/podcasts\/conversation-with-frank-rogers\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Holy and Healing: Conversations with Academy Leaders in the Time of Pandemic<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">,\u201d last April. Finally, not to be deterred by a global pandemic, Dr. Rogers led five workshops on Compassion in the last half of 2020.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Professor <\/span><b>Marvin Sweeney<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u2019s recent publications include a number of chapters in edited volumes,\u00a0 such as \u201cThe Distinctive Roles of the Prophets\u201d in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Oxford Handbook of the Historical Books<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cEzekiel, Historical Background\u201d in<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> The Oxford Handbook of Ezekiel<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cThe Book of the Twelve and Kingship\u201d in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Book of the Twelve: Composition, Reception, and Interpretation<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cReading Isaiah after the Shoah\u201d in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Oxford Handbook of Isaiah<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cDeuteronomy and the Reigns of Kings Hezekiah and Josiah\u201d in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Oxford Handbook of Deuteronomy<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u201cWhy Moses was Barred from the Land of Israel: A Reassessment of Numbers 20 In Literary Context\u201d in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Seeking Wisdom\u2019s Depths and Torah\u2019s Heights: Essays in Honor of Samuel E. Balentine<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and \u201cEli, A High Priest Thrown Under the Wheels of the Ox Cart\u201d in <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Characters and Characterization in Samuel and Kings<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Additionally, last December, Dr. Sweeney was an invited speaker at a Symposium on Asian Biblical Theology at Chang Jung Christian University in Tainan, Taiwan, where he lectured on \u201cAsian Biblical Theology and Filial Piety (Xiao).\u201d\u00a0 <\/span><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>You asked, we listened.
