Claremont School of Theology Unveils New Communications Campaign

A new Claremont School of Theology message campaign, “For Such a Time as This,” debuted this month.

“We are excited to announce that we are staying in Claremont for such times as these,” said the Rev. Steve Horswill-Johnston, CST alumnus and interim Vice President for Communications. “We are continuing our relationship in southern California, and the campaign will help clarify that.”

“For more than 135 years,” he added, “Claremont School of Theology has been one of the foremost progressive theological schools in the western United States. We will continue to be located in the picturesque foothills of eastern Los Angeles County, the most diverse region in the United States. We will continue to be a place that prepares pastors and religious entrepreneurs to preach, teach, and practice the gospel message of love, healing, and compassion.”

The campaign, he noted, has important ramifications for all who support the school. The message comes from Esther 4:14, which reads, “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”

“Claremont School of Theology is about developing leaders for such a time as this,” explained President Jeffrey Kuan. “We are just a stop along the way for leaders who will be sent to transform this world in all of its inequity, violence, and need. The leaders who graduate from CST are spread across the world for good. As the passage says, we cannot remain silent; otherwise, we will perish. Now is the time.”

The campaign will be featured on social media and on advertising in strategic locations. “It will also be a call to alumni/ae and friends to help spread the word about our amazing theological school,” Kuan said.
